The Way You Look Tonight

Fred Astaire and Gingers Rogers

This is an old big band number originally sung by Fred Astaire in the 1936 movie `Swung Time` It won the Oscar for best original song in that year. If there was ever an iconic dance duo it was Fred Astaire and Gingers Rogers. In the film the tune was sung to Ginger as Penny Carroll while Penny washed her hair in another room. Written by Jerome Kern with lyrics by Dorothy Fields the song became a standard and has obviously stood the test of time....Here we are 77 years later and performers are still covering the tune. I can`t list all the people who performed this song because basically EVERYONE has done it from Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, Sinatra, all the way down to Buble and Maroon 5.

The other day I Listened to Michael Buble sing this one but decided on the Sintra arrangement.
